Debbie Gravell is a Commissioned Minister of Christian Education. She has a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a master’s degree in Special Education from Central Connecticut State University. She also has a Master’s degree in Ministry and Daily Life from Hartford Seminary. She holds certification as a Specialist in Church Education from the United Church of Christ.

Debbie has served as a full-time member of the staff since 1996, during which time she has done outstanding ministry, with people of all ages. She brings her experience as public school teacher to her ministry.

The staff and congregation appreciate and admire Debbie for her amazing organizing skills, as well as her genuine humility and strong faith. While she enjoys an effective and valued ministry with adults, she focuses most of her energy and considerable talent on ministering to children, youth, and their families.

Debbie has a full plate, with the responsibility for two vibrant Sunday School programs (one at each worship hour), as well as the oversight of three active, growing youth groups. The quality and depth of ministry for children and youth under Debbie’s leadership has drawn many young families to First Church in recent years.
